Mi Suerte

I officially started my last semester of grad school this week. I can't believe it's coming to a close, and for some reason, there is a sadness to that for me. I am excited to graduate, but there has been a freedom, flexibility and freshness (like the 3 F's?) to the past 1.5 years that I wonder if I'll ever experience again in my career. It's been inspiring and humbling in a lot of ways, and I'm not ready for that to come to a close just yet. Hopefully, by May I will be.

And what better way to begin school, than by softening the intensity of academia but taking off for vacation the second week of school? The QLP (Queen of the Little People) and my family are going to Mexico next week for some family vacation time. Sadly, Andrew will be slaving away at work. As will Kasia. Boo. Tough to go back to Playa without him (we went together in Fall 2006), and we will miss both of them mucho. My grandparents are here from Poland, and since the weather in Texas sure isn't cooperating thus far, they decided to take a week in Mexico for some beach time, and really, how many opportunities will I get like this in the future? Probably not many. So The QLP and myself are braving the disfunctionality of my family (of which we are certainly derived) in search of some lovely sun on our faces. This marks the first real trip for Lilly, so I'm sure I will learn a lot about traveling with a baby (hopefully in a pleasant way) from this adventure. Any advice is gladly heeded. How do I pack us both into two bags? Is this even possible? Either way, this time next week, I will be sitting at happy hour in the pool bar, enjoying a frosty beverage. And reading my M&A Cases. Beats me reading in the library I suppose.

I've never traveled with A, but a friend of mine braved a trip with her two kiddos last fall. She posted an AWESOME blog post with lots of great tips. Some of it really won't apply (since her older one is 2) but it's still a pretty informative read: http://theurbans.wordpress.com/2009/11/09/travelling-with-two-a-review/
